Advancing Education in Uganda’s Tourism Host Communities

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela

Our Goal

To improve education access, quality, and sustainability in Uganda’s tourism host communities by supporting learners, improving school infrastructure, and empowering teachers.

Transforming Classrooms. Empowering Teachers. Changing Futures.

In Uganda’s breathtaking tourism regions, where wildlife safaris, serene lakes, and cultural wonders attract visitors from across the globe, many children and teachers live a very different story one of struggle, under-resourced schools, and limited opportunities.

TADUCATE is our bold education project in Uganda committed to change that. Help us become a key NGO education initiative in Uganda. A set of books can ignite a child’s future. A classroom can shelter dreams. A teacher SACCO can lift an entire community. Every contribution to TADUCATE big or small, strengthens education in Uganda’s tourism host communities, giving children the chance to learn, grow, and shine

The Education crisis in Uganda

  • Overcrowded classrooms often with over 70 children squeezed into one room.
  • Lack of basic learning materials such as exercise books to pens, leaving children unable to participate fully in lessons.
  • Unaffordable school fees which forces vulnerable children to drop out and work to support their families.
  • Poor sanitation facilities as some schools having just one toilet for hundreds of pupils and teachers combined.
  • Low teacher morale and financial insecurity due to inadequate pay and no access to savings or affordable credit.

The result! High dropout rates, poor academic performance, and limited opportunities for thousands of children especially girls in communities that should be thriving.

Through TADUCATE we aim to.

  • Provide scholastic materials to 10,000 learners each school term.
  • Pay school fees for 300 vulnerable learners per term, ensuring they stay in school.
  • Construct 5 modern toilet facilities each year to improve school sanitation and dignity.
  • Repair 2 classrooms annually and build 1 new classroom block per year to reduce overcrowding through school infrastructure support.
  • Establish a Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) for teachers in the 10 target communities to enhance financial stability and retention.

At Tatu we believe that every child deserves the tools to learn, every teacher deserves the means to thrive, and every community deserves the chance to shape its own future.

Why TADUCATE matters

By investing in children’s education and teachers’ livelihoods, we are not just building classrooms, we are building futures.
With the right support, a child who might have dropped out today could become tomorrow’s doctor, pilot, teacher, conservationist, entrepreneur, tour guide  or community leader.
